Ford FK 1000

 ðŸ‘‰Ford FK 1000: A Sturdy Workhorse

The Ford FK 1000, also known as the Ford Köln, was part of a series of medium-duty trucks built by Ford of Germany. Here are the key highlights:

1. First Generation (1951–1961):

The Ford FK series arrived in 1951, offering three weight models:

  1. FK 2000: A 2-tonne (4,400 lb) truck powered by a 3.3-liter four-cylinder G28T petrol engine (52 PS or 38 kW).
  2. FK 3000: A 3-tonne (6,600 lb) truck with a 57 PS (42 kW) version of the same engine.
  3. FK 3500: A 3.5-tonne (7,700 lb) truck equipped with a 52 PS (38 kW) G29T petrol V8 engine (which gained five horsepower in 1952).

  • Diesel Engine: To improve fuel efficiency, Ford installed a 94 PS (69 kW) 4,080 cc diesel engine from American manufacturer Hercules. This engine was built under license for Ford by Knorr in Munich and featured a Bosch fuel injection system.
  • Redesigned Cabin: The Ford Köln received a redesigned cabin with a square, chromed grille, a split windshield, and a shorter bonnet. The shorter cab allowed for better weight distribution and a longer cargo space.

2. Second Generation (1955–1961):

  • The second generation of FK trucks arrived at the end of 1955 and earned the nickname “Haifisch” (meaning “Shark”) due to their toothy grilles.
  • These trucks featured a more modern shape with a one-piece, curved windshield, a rounded nose, and a grille adorned with twelve vertical, chromed elements.

The range included three main models:

  1. FK 2500: A 2.5-tonne (5,500 lb) truck.
  2. FK 3500: A 3.5-tonne (7,700 lb) truck.
  3. FK 4500: A 4.5-tonne (9,900 lb) truck.

The Ford FK 1000 served as a sturdy workhorse, contributing to Ford’s legacy in the truck market. 🚚✨
